Mark April 24-26 on your calendars: that’s the “National Weekend of Prayer for the Freedom to Marry.”
On April 28, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on challenges to laws banning marriage equality in several states. “Let’s send up prayers throughout the church that the justices of the Supreme Court will act with wisdom and fairness–and that their decision will uphold the equal dignity of every citizen under the law,” says Coalition Executive Director Andy Lang.
The National Weekend of Prayer is organized by the Religious Institute and Freedom to Marry. Sponsors include the United Church of Christ, the Coalition, the Metropolitan Community Churches, and other groups.
The Supreme Court decision is expected in late June–possibly during, or shortly before, and Coalition’s National ONA Gathering in Cleveland.
