State Coalitions for LGBTQ+ Rights

With the surge of laws and executive orders in many states criminalizing health care for transgender youth and erasing LGBTQ+ identities from public education, ONA churches in the affected states can reach out to their LGBTQ+ equality coalitions.

Religion and Faith Program: Human Rights Campaign
HRC’s Religion and Faith Program seeks to engage all faith traditions in a deeper dialogue on questions of fairness and equality for LGBT Americans. Through initiatives such as Clergy Call for Justice and Equality, a Seminary Mentorship program and Putting Faith into Action, HRC has been working to build a diverse faith-based movement speaking out for LGBT justice.

Religion, Faith and Values Program: Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination
GLAAD’s Religion, Faith Values program works to amplify the voices of LGBT-affirming communities of faith and LGBT people of faith. The program has successfully coordinated press conferences for religious leaders who speak out in support of LGBT issues and has secured national and religious media interest in stories that bring examples of LGBT equality in faith communities to Americans. The program has trained openly LGBT and LGBT-supportive clergy, faith communities and individuals to share their stories in their local congregations and through mainstream media.

The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries
The Fellowship is a network of LGBTQ/SGL congregations in the African American faith tradition—with primarily LGBT leadership—led by Bishop Yvette Flunder. The Fellowship has a close covenantal relationship with the Coalition and the United Church of Christ.

LGBT Religious Archives Network
LGBT-RAN is a treasure trove of stories and testimonies about the early leaders of the faith movement for LGBTQ/SGL inclusion. Many of the Coalition’s pioneers are honored on this site.
