On January 9th, 1941, Joan Chandos Biaz was born.

The Mexican-American, bisexual folk singer has been speaking and working for justice for decades. She stood with Cesar Chavez to fight for migrant farm rights and she performed during the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s March on Washington in 1963. Joan Baez has been advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community throughout her long life, often dedicating songs and her work to the fight for justice for all people. The 80-year-old performer has recorded over 30 albums, in six different languages.
